K-Kids Club
The K-Kids Club is a junior division of the Kiwanis Club of Bonita where I have been a member for over twenty years. Our focus is school/community service.
Some of the activities we sponsored last year included ongoing school clean up, tending to our school garden, Special Olympics, a canned food and gently used toy drive for needy families during the holidays, a used eyeglasses drive for “The Gift of Sight”, and a raffle to earn money for the Make A Wish Foundation. We will be involved with similar projects again this year and have already identified a new project of collecting teddy bears for Children’s Hospital.
Our meetings are held most Wednesdays during the lunch hour. Students voluntarily eat with me on the stage and also miss lunch recess. We have a formal structure modeled after the adult club, with officers, minutes, etc. The students actually run all meetings under my supervision. At times, we take part in weekend activities, but you will always be notified in advance and a filed trip form will be required.
This is a wonderful opportunity to these youngsters develop leadership skills and a sense of giving back to the community. If your children should care to join this club, please come by the office and fill out a "Permission to Participate" form. We welcome your involvement!
