California Content Standards

California Content Standards are established by the California State Board of Education in an effort to promote standardization of education in order to promote excellence and a solid foundation for greater learning.

What is a standard? The content that a student is expected to acquire and master at each grade level from kindergarten to grade twelve in the State of California. Now all parents can see, specifically, what their child should be learning.

How are standards taught? Local school officials and teachers retain control of how to design the specific curricular and instructional strategies that best deliver the content to their students.

Where can I find out what the standards are?
